A northern lad with a hankering for reflection? Right up my street, mate. The latest from Cameron Scott is simply gorgeous. Scratch that. Achingly gorgeous. It’s a melancholy album, yes (I mean, there’s a song here called ‘Today Is Monday’), but it’s also infused with a ‘we’re all in this together’ spirit by dint of its Bon Iver like melodies, which somehow manage to be both stripped back and luscious at the same time. Heartbreak and longing has rarely sounded so sweet. DP
