In this sixth album, Colombian-American pop artist Kali Uchis takes a distinct new direction with her sound. While her previous releases are filled with upbeat Latin rhythms and R&B anthems, ‘Sincerely’ is a sweeping retro-pop record that’s laid back in tempo and deliciously sweet in tone. Her vocals soar over sensual melodies with flavours of jazz and doo-wop, as the smooth transitions between each song make the whole thing feel like a 60s romance movie. Though it would’ve been nice to see more Spanish lyrics and Latin influence to retain the identity so prominent in the rest of her catalogue, I’m loving this softer side of Kali Uchis. LT
