I was lucky enough to attend the launch of this latest EP from Newcastle natives Labyrinthine Oceans at The Cluny, and experiencing this music live just brought it to a whole new level. ‘Everyone was alive’ is an immersive sonic experience; it has a dream-like quality, courtesy of hazy reverb, distorted guitar melodies, captivating vocals and dark, poetic lyrics. The band’s blend of grunge and gaze is unlike anything I’ve heard before, launching them right to the top of my list of local bands I’m most excited about right now. It's a labyrinth of sound that you won’t want to escape. LT
