Show some love for Ladybird

‘The Wonderful World of the Ladybird Artists’ is explored in a wonderful exhibition at Ushaw in County Durham that celebrates the artists that gave those children’s books their unique appeal.

There’s nothing that Helen Day doesn’t know about Ladybird books, and she’s the mover and groover behind this family-friendly show that gives kudos to all those artists who worked on the series from the 1940s and into the 1970s. The display includes original art, audio/visual elements and the centrepiece ‘Wall of Books’ featuring hundreds of original volumes from the period. The exhibition is designed to engage younger visitors but also to provide a shot of nostalgia for those who grew up with these classics.
