Fashion for all

If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to attend a real life fashion show, see designs up close and get the inside scoop on trends, then now is your chance – and you don’t even have to leave the north-east.

On Wednesday 11 June, Graduate Fashion Week will hit The Boiler Shop in Newcastle, showcasing some amazing emerging talent from Jerry J Clothing, who will be showing their debut collection, Born to Elevate. The collection is inspired by founder Lamin Gibba’s Gambian heritage and British contemporary fashion. “This show is about more than clothes—it’s about where I come from, where I’m going, and who I want to bring with me,” says Lamin. “Through fashion, I’m telling a story of identity, pride, and possibility. I want people to see what’s possible when you honour your roots and dream big.” The show is a celebration of culture and identity, with every piece made entirely in Gambia with a commitment to ethical fashion and supporting local artisans there. With bold creative designs and sustainable clothing production, it’s all about lifting up communities – and will definitely not be one to miss. FR
