The debut six-track EP from singer/songwriter/pianist Keane Baldwin – recorded in Newcastle – shows off his ability to pen pop songs that are thrumming with emotion and have a keen melodic sensibility. He takes his cue from the likes of Chris Martin and Gary Barlow, and, just like that pair, he certainly knows how to lift a tune right up into the clouds. Case in point is ‘What’s Next To Unexpect’, which builds from a plaintive ballad into something that fairly gallops along. (Although I don’t think ‘Unexpect’ is strictly a real word…) GM
