Djo - The Crux
I’m a big fan of Joe Keery’s work as an actor (I’ll be inconsolable if they kill off Steve in the Stranger Things finale) but this is my first encounter with his musical alias, Djo. I fear I’ve been missing out. The Crux is a patchwork blanket of an album, weaving together a variety of indie-pop sounds, influences and lyrical stories to create a catchy, colourful listen that perfectly encapsulates Keery’s concept for the album: “a hotel housing guests who are all, in one way or another, at crossroads in their life.” Djo is equally as talented at bringing characters to life through songwriting as he is through acting.
