Sheila take a bow
Sheila Fell died tragically young in 1979 aged only 48. But she left behind a remarkable body of paintings, many of which were inspired by her hometown of Aspatria in Cumberland. In 1955, aged just 24, Fell held her first exhibition, becoming the youngest ever artist to exhibit at the Beaux Arts Gallery in London. Later, she joined the teaching staff at Chelsea School of Art. She would never return permanently to Cumberland, but its landscape dominated her work. This exhibition brings together 100 of those works from private and public collections (including from the likes of Tate and National Portrait Gallery) and should definitely not be missed.
