David Wilson is returning to his native north-east for a show at Bailiffgate Museum & Gallery in Alnwick, which will showcase his colourful mastery of land and seascapes.

Something special happens when David Wilson applies paint to a canvas. He deploys big, delectable swodges of colour in a way that is utterly transformative, and he brings to life the world as he sees it in a remarkably unique way. His latest show sees him exploring the North-West Highlands of Scotland and Northumberland and of it he says: “The North-West Highlands landscape is very different from Northumberland. No less wild in places but the light is different. Northumberland for me is its big skies, dramatic coastline and strong colours.
