Plenty of great things have hailed from the north-east over the years, and that includes some brilliant fashion brands. One that recently landed on our radar is Pretty Mama, a brand designed especially for breastfeeding mothers.

Alex Malley and Jenny McFadden set up Pretty Mama in April 2020 from the spare room of their mam’s Hebburn home, while Alex was expecting her first child, and the duo even appeared on Dragon’s Den in 2022. While the clothes all have a breastfeeding-friendly twist with hidden zips for easy and discreet access, they’re also minimalist and modern enough to keep wearing long after your kids have grown up, securing them a permanent place in your clothes rotation. Each piece is designed, hand cut and made in the UK using recycled materials, which are milled in Scotland before being shipped to Newcastle. They’re then created by a local seamstress, with even the swing tags and clothes labels being made right here in the UK. FR
