Bowes Railway

This railway is the only preserved standard gauge rope haulage railway in the world. The oldest part of the line dates from 1826, designed by George Stephenson. Visitors can see the historic workshops and visit the permanent exhibition. Trains operate on select Sundays and special days as advertised.
