The Crack Magazine

Local scene: HUNNI

It’s already been quite the ride for these two Newcastle lasses but 2024 looks to be the year when they really make their mark.

You may already have seen best friends Jenna and Olivia (or “Jen” and “Liv” to their mates) on TV as the pair were crowned the winners of the last series of ‘The Voice’ under the mentorship of (or “William” to his mates). Of course, winning ‘The Voice’ is no guarantee of success (wither Molly Hocking these days?) but Jen and Liv – now going under the name HUNNI (or “Honey” to their mates) – definitely have that certain something which could see them nab chart success. Their debut single ‘Heartbeat’ spills over with noughties’ style poppy effervescence, and a name-check for Nelly Furtado gives an indication of where they’re coming from. It was written and produced with Matt Wills (who has worked with Rudimental and Charlotte Plank) and TAET (Aitch, Toddla T), which gives another pointer to what they’re all about. If it’s fun, fun, fun you seek then Hunni have got all the sweet stuff you could possibly want. DP
