A Real Cool Cat

The Old Black Cat Jazz Club in Sunderland continues to bring us outstanding performers, and this July they’ve got the absolutely brilliant Zoe Gilby Trio for your delectation.

Zoe Gilby is one of the best jazz vocalists in the UK and a previous winner of the Parliamentary Jazz Award. She’s also a darling of the critics and whenever she releases a new album she’s invariably met with a whole bunch of glittering notices from the press. An innovative and incredibly creative songwriter and performer, she always takes an adventurous approach to her work with influences ranging from everyone from Kate Bush through to Thelonious Monk. She’s also an utterly captivating live performer and she’s bound to go down a storm in the spectacular Seventeen Nineteen venue with its acoustically stunning space. The café bar will, of course, be open for this one and fully stocked with warming mulled wine and maybe a jazzy cocktail or two. A spine-tingling night is guaranteed. GM
