The Crack Magazine

11 x 54

Stonking 11-piece band (count ‘em!) Discography are celebrating the sounds of legendary New York disco club Studio 54 (swivel ‘em) when they play The Cluny in Newcastle this July.

If you want your summer nights to positively sizzle then you need to get the superhot sounds of Discography into your life. Because anyone who has seen them live before (I once caught them at Hoochie Coochie) will know that they’re the absolute bomb. Of course it helps that they’re steeped in the good stuff, that good stuff being some of the best dance music ever created. I’m talking the cream of disco from the likes of Donna Summer, Chic, Sister Sledge, Diana Ross, Grace Jones and all the rest of them. Utilising both male and female singers, they have a super groovy rhythm section, funky guitars, slap bass and the kind of horn section that would work James Brown into a sweaty mess. So dig out your best togs from Halston, Gucci or Fiorucci and prepare for disco nirvana. You shall go to the mirror ball. DP

Discography, Friday 19 July, The Cluny, Newcastle, 7.30pm, £15,
