It's Open Season!

Gallagher & Turner’s Summer Open Exhibition is shining a spotlight onto some of the region’s finest artists, and from the stuff we’ve already seen, it’s set to be an eye-opening delight.

In all, 57 artists will be showing at Gallagher & Turner’s Summer Open Exhibition, and they will represent all manner of disciplines such as painting, sculpture, drawing, collage and textiles. Oh – there will also be ceramics too, including Lucy Waters’ ‘Inter-Generational’ (pictured) – featuring porcelain paint on upcycled ceramics. Clare Turner, who founded the gallery in 1990 with Paul Gallagher, explained their selection: “We hosted our first Open Exhibition in 2019 and this will be our fourth. We are looking for quality work that makes us smile and brings us joy. We are excited to bring all these artworks together and celebrate the north-east’s talented artists and creators.” There are far too many artists showing stuff to list here but some of the names to look out for include Deborah Snell, Alfons Bytautas, Kate Sweeney, Jane Sanders and Holly Magdalene Scott.
