Leading Lights

The ‘New Light Art Prize’ is an exhibition celebrating the best of Northern Art, and you can see it when it opens at The Biscuit Factory this June.

The ‘New Light Art Prize’ is always one of the cultural high-spots of the year and – after having a sneak peak at some of the stuff being shown this year – I have no hesitation in stating that the 2024 show looks incredible. All of the exhibiting artists have some connection with the north of England (hey, it’s the rules!) and among the artists showing stuff this year will be the likes of Leanne Pearce, Jane Sanders, Gavin Watson and Narbi Price. If you’re not au fait with the prize then you should know that since 2010 New Light has supported both well-known and emerging artists; also: it’s fast becoming one of the UK’s largest and most talked about open exhibitions. General Manager of Biscuit Factory Rachel Brown: “We’re very much looking forward to the return of New Light, which is an integral platform to the promotion of our region in the art world. We’re thrilled to be able to present the exclusive Sculpture Prize too, which will allow us to spotlight this particular form of art.” Do not miss. JL
