Coast with the most

Coast Fest is back in North Shields again this June with three days of party-starting live acts.

Sometimes you don’t have to travel to the yond end of the country to see a brilliant festival. Sometimes they’re right on your doorstep. Case in point is Coast Fest, which last year scooped the prestigious Best New Festival Award. 2024’s bash kicks off on Friday night (21 June) with headliner Professor Green. This chart-topping, multi-platinum selling artist has lit up the charts with tracks such as ‘Just Be Good to Green’ and ‘Read All About It’ and he remains one of the UK’s most potent live performers. Also doing the biz on Friday will be the likes of Judge Jules, Dynamite Disco Club and Marty Evans. Saturday 22 June will be headlined by the force of nature that is The Selecter (pictured), a band who returned to the charts last year with their brilliant ‘Human Algebra’ album. They’ll be playing songs from that release as well as tracks from their back catalogue such as ‘On My Radio’, ‘Three Minute Hero’ and ‘Missing Words’. Also playing Saturday will be Futureheads and Liam Fender. Headlining Sunday 23 June will be Badly Drawn Boy, a festival favourite wherever he plays. His support will include artists such as Mystery Jets and local favourites Hector Gannet. And there will be loads of other local favourites playing throughout the weekend – full details available from the website, below. DP
