The Crack Magazine

Wishes Granted

Disney’s Aladdin is one of the most spectacular musicals ever to grace the West End and it’ll be working its magic in Sunderland this February & March.

If you’re looking for a theatrical spectacle dripping in gold, magical tricks, big laughs – and with a party loving genie tagging along for the ride – then you’re going to go a bundle for Disney’s Aladdin. The premise – as is the wont with such stuff – is simple. Aladdin is a down-on-his-luck lad who falls for Jasmine, a princess. Determined to put a stop to any billing and cooing is a wicked vizier; but, with the aid of a genie, can love prevail? (Spoilers: yes.) This extravaganza takes the best of the tunes from the Disney film and augments them with new songs penned by the likes of Tim Rice. A huge hit on Broadway and in the West End, this modern classic will positively light up Sunderland. JL
