There'll be plenty of this
Cult US band Foxing are celebrating the 10th anniversary of their incredible ‘The Albatross’ album (pictured) with a series of gigs including – hooray! – one at Cluny 2 in Newcastle.
Foxing band members were drawn from the outer-fringes of the St Louis, Missouri scene but when they came together they managed to create something else entirely. Their debut album ‘The Albatross’ was one of the most startling releases of the 2010s and it saw the band adding orchestral elements to their expansive tapestry that touched on everything from chamber-rock, to post-rock, to emo, to math rock, to ambient. It was also a release full of verve and drama and it remains a key release of that period. The band has since released three further studio albums including the magnificent ‘Dealer’, which features a whole raft of songs that can justifiably be stamped with the ‘Classic’ label. Foxing are one of the most bracing live propositions around today and any chance you get to see them should not be passed up. DP
