Luxmuralis at Winchester Cathedral Science son et lumiere cathedral art 2022_69.jpeg

Imagine this! (But in Durham…)

These wonderful pics were culled from Winchester and St Albans cathedrals where ‘Science’ by Luxmuralis – a sound and light installation – was staged last year. Now it’s making its spectacular way to Durham Cathedral.

Are religion and science comfortable bedfellows? That’s just one of the areas that this staggering installation will explore when it comes to Durham for just five precious nights in October. By day, the cathedral will be its usual stately self, but in the evening this awe-inspiring sound and light extravaganza will swing into action. The wisdom, and, yes, beauty of religion and science will be examined while gorgeous music fills the venerable old building right up to its rafters. Entitled ‘Science’ it’s the work of Luxmuralis, those masters of light and sound who wowed thousands of visitors last year when they brought ‘Life’ to Durham Cathedral. Andrew Usher, Chief Officer: Visitor Experience and Enterprise at Durham Cathedral: “We’ve released the tickets much earlier this year as in 2022, the show was sold out from the first night with over 12,300 people visiting the cathedral during the five night run. We urge people to get their tickets early to avoid any disappointment.” You heard the man…
