Tees Folk 2023 is a new thing coming to Stockton – celebrating contemporary folk and acoustic music – and the line-up for their first event is a real doozy.

If you’re going to celebrate folk music in the region, then you may as well pull out a few stops. And my, haven’t the organisers of Tees Folk 2023 been busy. It’s all taking place at The Stockton Globe (which itself is celebrating its second anniversary since the big reopen) and will be headlined by The Young ‘Uns (pictured). This fabulous trio are triple BBC Radio 2 Folk Award winners and have wowed crowds up and down the UK, including at Glastonbury. Also appearing will be Kris Drever (the award-winning Scottish folk singer, guitarist and songwriter is a key member of the folk superstar group Lau), Megson (this Teesside husband and wife folk duo have a well-regarded career that’s spanned 20 years), and Amelia Coburn (a Middlesbrough songstress and ukulele player, she’s a highly distinctive presence on the local scene and beyond, and has already been nominated for a BBC Radio 2 Young Folk award).
