Cinderella at The Customs House
In a stunning retelling of the classic fairytale, The Customs House brought magic to the stage in their summer production of Cinderella. Directed and Starring South Shields icon Davey Hopper as Arbuthnot in his farewell show after a gleaming eight years; a sense of sentimentality was already well established in the crowd amongst panto regulars and the joy he brings will be greatly missed, but my oh my will he be leaving with a bang in this summer family must see because we all need a little bit of magic in our lives.
Written by Ray Spencer and Graeme Thompson, the show was perfectly cast with Rebekah Summerhill and Andy Bothwick playing the fairytale couple Cinderella and Prince Charming. Dale Jewitt and David McCarthy, under the role of the stepsisters, were a comedic force with incomparable on-stage chemistry including countless ad-libs that sent the audience into hysterics. Teamed with the stage diva Christina Berriman Dawson as the stepmother, the crowd booed and hissed as they delivered countless musical numbers in effortlessly evil and iconic vocals making for the perfect stage villains.
Packed with shockers and surprises for all that come to see this magical production this summer, The Customs House have once again excelled delivering a summer must see.
