10 Years of Durham Pride
There’s a fabulous mix of fun events coming to Durham this May, but the main event will take place on Sunday 28 May with a march down from Durham City Centre to The Sands. Expect loads of music, drag, food and a family fun fair. On Thursday 25 May you will be able to make new friends at the Gala Theatre when they hold an open mic featuring live readings from queer adults’ teen diaries, tumblr posts, cringe poetry(!), and love letters. On Friday 26 May there will also be a beautiful art display covering Pride – past, present and future. For all sports fans out there, Durham Cricket Club are devoting their bank holiday T20 match to Pride as they celebrate the event and raise funds that are vital to keep Durham Pride up and running. That’s on the Bank Holiday Monday, 29 May. There will also be a Pride in Armed Forces Day on Saturday 27 May. There’s truly something for everyone at Durham Pride this year with the city festooned in rainbows as we celebrate our best selves. MW
