Worth a dunk!

Aussie band Nice Biscuit are a glorious melange of all that is good about psych/pop/rock. They’re hitting The Cluny in Newcastle on 1 June with Baby Cool, another band from down under that exude viiibes.

If you’re aiming for a sun-kissed sound, then it’s probably a good idea to make sure your band comes from Brisbane. Nice Biscuit are one such entity and their polished neo-psychedelia is dappled with frazzled rays and positively dripping with factor 50. They quickly won a following in their hometown and have played sold out shows right across Oz. They’ve also supported the likes of The Growlers, The Allah-Las and The Brian Jonestown Massacre and are now creating waves beyond their own shores. One of their key drivers is the gorgeously ethereal vocals of Billie Star and Grace Cuell, which float over some truly delicious melodies. And you can also hear Grace Cuell’s vocals with support act Baby Cool – her side project – a band that marries psychedelia with folk and just a smidgeon of country. She said: “The songs are deeply sentimental. I have a lot I need to sing about to help me make sense of this earthly pod I have been gifted…” Yep – this earthly pod. DP
