Wake Up Lucy

Lucy Porter is one of the most exuberant stand-ups in the UK and she’ll be bringing the funnies when she visits Barnard Castle in March with her new show: Wake-Up Calls.

Heard of Huel? It’s a supposed nutritionally complete food with each Huel meal containing a balance of essential vitamins and minerals. And it’s exactly the kind of thing that Lucy Porter will be talking about in her new show along with bin collection schedules, cats, school fair booze tombolas, the Scottish Enlightenment, pressure washers, and, of course, the novels of Jean Rhys. The show – Wake-Up Call – is all about revelations, realisations and epiphanies, both large and small. Porter is a regular face on TV, and her dulcet tones can regularly be heard on BBC Radio 4, but it’s great that she’s hitting the road again where her skew-whiff thoughts can really take flight. GM

Lucy Porter, Saturday 25 March, The Witham, Barnard Castle, 8pm, £18. thewitham.org.uk
