Stockton-on-Tees’ Sisi is still a teenager but she’s already creating a stir wherever she plays. And with little wonder – she’s amazing.

Occasionally, when I ask a local act to provide me with a pic, they get back to me with a low-res image that a family member has snapped while standing at the back of a gig. Not so with Sisi. Her pics were supplied not only with a photographer’s name, but also with the name of the people who did her hair and make-up. I was also given names for ‘Photography Assistant’ and ‘Shoot Coordinator’. In short, she’s a woman people are now taking very seriously, not the least BBC who included her as one of their Ones To Watch 2023. Her latest track is ‘Fallen Angel’, and it’s a glorious melange of RNB, soul and afro-pop. It’s subtle, low-key even, but it manages to hit a sweet-spot that keeps on giving. It’s also beautifully produced and a fine showcase for her knockout vocals. Sisi has already played the Reading and Leeds festival – and scooped a 2022 Young xSongwriter of the Year award – but I reckon 2023 is going to be even bigger for her. Get on board! Pronto! DP
