Savage Love

Anna B Savage released her second album in February and it’s nary been off my turntable since. She’s in Newcastle this March.

I first got on board with Anna B Savage when I caught her supporting Jenny Hval. There was just something about her – that rich voice (shades of Anohni), which is capable of stopping an audience in their tracks and holding them rapt; and that stage presence where she makes you feel every word she sings. Her debut album, 2021’s ‘A Common Turn’, would confirm the arrival of a real talent. It’s a release built from shifting textures, taking in everything from fragile plucked acoustics to industrial beats, all underpinned by a melodic sensibility and that extraordinary voice. Her new album ‘in/FLUX’ is another heart-stopper: subtle art-pop beats, pure emotion, and beautiful flights of fancy proving rather good bed fellows. If you have a heart, prepare to have it captured when you let Anna B Savage into your world. DP
