Anderson! Carvalhas! Sorted!

The Scottish singer/songwriter Stellar Anderson is teaming up with the extraordinary violinist Joana Carvalhas for a show at The Witham, which may very well be the gig of the month…

Stellar Anderson crept up on a lot of people’s blindsides when she released her first EP in 2021. It was an EP that announced a rare talent with many connecting with Anderson’s heartfelt songs. The EP then grew into a 10-track album, ‘Breathe’, which came out last year under the banner of The Stellar Anderson Project. It’s an album packing real oomph – of a Celtic-ified country and folk nature – full of stirring choruses, bittersweet ballads and good vibes by the score. (Her spellbinding vocals sealed the deal.) And this gig at The Witham should be particularly exciting as joining Anderson will be Joana Carvalhas. This violinist is constantly exploring new musical styles – with the aid of her trusty special effects looper pedal – and is an astonishing live performer. Support will come from Oui Bee, a northern songsmith packing beautiful songs and a breath-taking voice. GM
