Run For The Thrills!

Bristol’s Run Logan Run are one of the most feted names in jazz right now and their gig at Sage Gateshead – which sees them teaming up with Annie Gardiner – promises to be one of THE events of February.

Run Logan Run’s fourth album ‘Nature Will Take Care of You’ came out towards the back end of 2022, and it’s an album that pushed the duo (saxophonist Andrew Neil Hayes and drummer Matt Brown) right to the forefront of all that is good on the jazz scene right now. They’ve been compared to outfits such as The Comet Is Coming and that’s very evident on this album, a release which sees them taking jazz-rock to some very exciting and interesting places – full of melody but always stretching their canvas to take in everything from breakbeats to psychedelic soul. The album also saw the band teaming up with vocalist Annie Gardiner (daughter of late guitarist Ricky Gardiner) and she’ll also be at the Sage along with the wildly inventive Dan Messore (Indigo Kid) on guitar and rising star Beth O’Lenahan (Nulifer Yanya) on bass.
