Neurotic Thoughts

In his new show ‘Neurotica’ Jake Donaldson tackles mental illness, disability, and toxic masculinity with the kind of wit and charm that has seen him become one of the hottest new stand-ups around.

Jake Donaldson uses a winning mix of self-deprecation and touching anecdotes to explore issues surrounding masculinity and more. He grew up with the archetypal ‘Geordie lad’ for a father – and has a complex relationship with anxiety and disability – but he’s used these concerns as a launchpad to grapple with feminism and ‘moral manhood’. ‘Neurotica’ is a show that has been winning rave reviews wherever Donaldson has toured it including the Edinburgh Fringe (“Full of heart… Top class anecdotal comedy… no concept is visited without some genuinely class gags that will have you roaring with laughter” Blizzard Comedy). He has also been nominated for Neurodiverse Review’s Visually Impaired Excellence Award. A Newcastle lad himself, Donaldson’s show at The Stand represents the final stop on his tour, and it promises to be some homecoming. MS
