Making Waves

Indie go-getters Circa Waves have a new album out in January and no doubt they’ll be playing songs from it when they come to Newcastle in early February.

And that album is ‘Never Going Under’ (out 13 January fact fans) and it’s another release that shows off the songwriting chops these fellas undoubtedly possess. For make no mistake, Circa Waves have established themselves as THE go to band when you’re in need of indie-pop that is built from huge choruses and the kind of tuneful riffs that’ll put a bomb under any passing mosh-pit. Their first album was ‘Young Chasers’ (released back in 2015) and ‘Never Going Under’ will be their fifth long-player. And, over the years, you can tell that they’ve really honed their sound. Consequently, they’ve built up an enviable back catalogue and this was very evident last summer when the four-piece hit the main stages of many a festival to much acclaim. They’re an incredible, bouncy, life-affirming entity when they play live and their appearance in Newcastle should banish even the bluest of winter blues. JL
