How Soon Is Noir?

Newcastle Noir, the festival that celebrates the best in crime fiction, returns this December with a line-up that is packing real heat.

Garrotting! Poisoning! Stiletto daggers between the ribs! It’s all on offer at this year’s Newcastle Noir courtesy of some of the top crime writers around. Pulled together by ‘Dr Noir’ Jacky Collins and Frances Walker, this year they’re lined-up over fifty practitioners of the darkest arts, with local, national and international authors all in attendance. If you’re looking for names then cop for Mari Hannah (pictured – author of the Kate Daniels series of police procedurals), James Oswald (author of the Inspector McLean series), Glenda Young (her latest cosy crime novel is set in a Scarborough B&B), Trevor Wood (his Newcastle set ‘The Man on the Street’ won the CWA), and many more. LJ Ross will be hosting the Lindisfarne Prize Winners’ panel; the Northern Crime Writing Syndicate have a ‘Whose Crime Is It Anyway’ interactive session; ‘Blurring the Boundaries and Beyond’ will explore the gothic in crime; and ‘Newcastle Noir New Blood’ will present new crime writers you really need to know. Full gory details from the website, below. RM
