Now THAT’S a Nativity scene

100 Christmas trees, a 50ft garland, and THIS Nativity scene are just some of the delights that make up The Auckland Project’s Winter Experience.

I know what you’re thinking: “A 50ft garland?” But it’s true! The magnificent Throne Room inside Auckland Castle will be beautifully adorned with this eye-opener, which is being created with more than 30,000 flowers. And the garland is just one of the reasons why the Auckland Project’s Winter Experience is so special. Me? I’ll be making a bee-line for the monumental Neapolitan Nativity scene – featuring bawdy street-sellers and raucous musicians, as well as the familiar sacred figures – which looks simply incredible. The Winter Experience will also offer visitors the chance to be among the first to see inside the much anticipated Faith Museum, which is due to open next year. There will also be festive teas, workshops, a multitude of Christmas trees, and all the other goodies that Auckland Castle and Auckland Tower has to offer. Oh – and we’re also promised a seasonal surprise. If you want to give yourself a real Yuletide treat, then look no further. DP
