The Crack Magazine

Pass the Piz Buin!

If you’re looking for the perfect antidote to dark winter days, then let Halifax quartet The Orielles bring some sun-drenched indie-rock disco into your life.

With a blissfully chilled-out blend of hazy vocals, jangling guitars and groovy bass – coupled with a dollop of surreal lyricism – The Orielles create the perfect live atmosphere of the carefree and, thanks to a groovy undertone, the danceable. When they visit in January we can expect to be treated to BBC 6 Music fave ‘I Only Bought It For The Bottle’ and the excellent jam-style eight minutes of ‘Sugar Tastes Like Salt’, alongside exciting new material from their ‘almost-ready’ third album, which is currently being teased on socials. Support in Newcastle will come from spiky Yorkshire indie-rockers The Lounge Society, who will warm us up nicely before The Orielles’ trademark woozy melodies transport us off to the sunniest of climes.
