Joke 90s

The 1990s was the decade that saw Shaparak Khorsandi leave an important part of her brain somewhere in a field in Hampshire…

I still remember the shock I felt when a 90s theme pub opened in Newcastle in the early 2000s, because the 90s was so close that you could nearly touch it. (Too soon was the cry!) But now a couple of decades have passed since those heady days of Britpop, Four Weddings and a Funeral, and countless bottles of Hooch, so now seems like a good a time as any to revisit it. And doing just that will be one of the UK’s finest stand-ups, Shaparak Khorsandi, who will be harking back to those indie discos, unflattering crop tops and days of binge drinking. The 1990s was the decade that Khorsandi found herself flying around London with little more than hope in her heart, a tenner in her pocket, and a spare pair of knickers in her handbag. JL
