Jim Edwards: Onwards and Upwards!

One of the region’s favourite artists, Jim Edwards, is taking part in this year’s Ouseburn Open Studios event. Hooray!

Jim Edwards is best known for his contemporary cityscape and landscape paintings, capturing the iconic locations of the north-east. His work follows a theme of architecturally inspired structures and dominating linear form, with composition evolving from a combination of imagination and selective memory. In his latest work, Jim reimagines his cityscapes from a navigational perspective, while continuing to explore the spatial orientation of the city through its landmarks.

Earlier this year, Jim moved his studio a very small distance, just next door (from 59 to 57 Lime Street), so he could remain in Ouseburn while gaining a much larger workspace. And by combining his studio with a gallery environment, he’s created a unique space to paint in, while showcasing his latest paintings, limited edition prints and greetings cards.
