A Drop Of Lime

36 Lime Street is the oldest and largest studio group in the north-east – housing over 40 artists, makers and designers – and they’re just one of the venues taking part in this year’s Ouseburn Open Studios event.

Is there anything 36 Lime Street doesn’t do? From sculpture to painting, glass to jewellery, ceramics to textiles to puppets to furniture, they’ve got it all covered. Their November Open Studios event was established in 1994, and it has become a popular fixture of the cultural year in Newcastle. Last time in was held (in 2019) more than 3000 people visited this historic Grade II listed building in the heart of the Ouseburn valley. Now – after a two year Covid lay-off – they’re back and ready throw open their doors once more.

Come along and browse at your leisure. Meet the artists and have a nosey around the studios; buy existing work or commission something new; take part in workshops; enjoy demos and live music; and view the exhibition of new work on display. You will be sure to find some unique Christmas gifts. You might even win some of the amazing artwork in the legendary Lime Street raffle. Entry, as ever, is free.

Ouseburn Open Studios, Saturday 27 & Sunday 28 November. For a full list of venues taking part visit: ouseburnopenstudios.org For more details of everything happening at 36 Lime Street during the weekend (including workshops, demos, etc) visit: 36limestreet.co.uk
