Cirkus V Trapeze (Ramshaw Records)

This Sunderland outift were formed during the 1970s and won favour with discerning progrock fans. Since then the band have been through line-up changes and periods of inactivity but they’re back in 2020 with their fifth album, which, pleased to report, features a beautiful suite of songs. This is cosmic stuff, the melodies given space to breathe and unfurl in their own sweet time. The playing, vocals and production is right on the money, too. I was totally swept away and glad to be so.

Released 24 April
