The Tragedy of Street Dog (Bethlehem Casuals)

I love a bit of concept album WTF-ery, and this oddball septet have pulled a real rabbit out of their hat with this one. It tells the story of a dog who is wondering why all the music in Manchester has disappeared. Yep. But they marshal such a wonderful collection of whirligig songs that you go with it. From lurch-a-long psych to jazzy punk-funk, they’ve got a Steely Dan-like way of pushing prog-pop through some very interesting filters. GM Released 17 April
