ovoclarks20.jpg Put a spring in your step

Look out your window. What do you see? Frolicking lambs? Tick. Larks ascending? Tick. People experimenting with a flash of colour on their feet? Tick. It’s springtime!

Celebrate by shoving those boring old brown brogues back in the cupboard. These beauties have come about through a collaboration between Clarks Originals Wallabees and OVO. The Wallabee, of course, is one of the most iconic pieces of footwear around. The moccasin-inspired shoes have all the comfort of a pair of trainers, but are just that tad more formal. They were developed in Ireland and launched in the 1960s where they soon found favour with sundry modernists. In the early 1990s, however, they found unlikely hip-hop champions with the Wu-Tang Clan, with all nine members having a penchant for their soft and subtle ways. (On their signature ‘Gravel Pit’ single Method Man would rap: “Follow me, Wu-Tang gotta be, the best thing since Starks and Clark Wallabees”.) Other famous wearers? Him out of The Verve and Breaking Bad’s Walter White. The shoe continues to find favour with the great and the good and now Drake’s clothing range, OVO, have jumped aboard. Their take on this classic shoe are stamped with their owl logo and come in acid orange, acid green and – if you’re not willing to drop acid – plain old black.

OVO x Clarks Originals Wallabee are £168. uk.octobersveryown.com
