Big ticket energy
If you’re thinking: “Lamplight Festival, Lamplight Festival… No… Doesn’t ring a bell…” then that’s because this is a brand new live event. But they’re not going in half-cocked. Taking place in the city centre’s Mowbray Park, this family-friendly affair has already pulled in a roster of big-names guaranteed to set pulses a-racing. First on board were indie giants Kaiser Chiefs (pictured) who have established themselves as huge festival favourites. They have one of the most enviable back catalogues around and never fail to ignite a crowd. Also on the bill are Scottish real gone kids Deacon Blue; much-loved singer/songwriter KT Tunstall; and Roddy Woomble of Idlewild. (Me? I’ll be making a bee-line for Sunderland’s very own Frankie and the Heartstrings.) More acts are being added all the time and you can find out more from the website, below.
