The Gala Theatre in Durham has one of the most family-friendly programmes around and they’ve got some real doozies coming up over the next month or so.

Doozies? I’m talking about the likes of Morgan and West’s Unbelievable Science! (pictured - Saturday 15 February, 7.30pm, £12/£10). This pair turn boring old chemistry, physics and biology into a captivating and bonkers extravaganza with explosive thrills, chemical spills and bags of humour. Minds WILL be blown. Slightly more sedate is Rose and Robin, a celebration of growing old and the perfect play for children to enjoy with their grandparents (Thursday 20 February, 2pm, £12/£10). Families who enjoyed the star-studded Christmas TV animation The Tiger Who Came To Tea can spend even more time with Sophie and her large stripy friend with the Olivier Award nominated stage adaptation of Judith Kerr’s bestselling story (Saturday 29 February, 1.30pm & 3.30pm and Sunday 1 March, 10.30am & 1.30pm, £12.50, £46.50 family). Another popular adaptation arrives in the shape of Julia Donaldson’s Zog. Large in size and keen in nature Zog is eager to win a golden star at Madam Dragon’s school (Saturday 21 & Sunday 22 March, 11am & 2pm, £14.50/£12.50). Further down the line look out for Little Red Riding Hood, a child-friendly ballet from Northern Ballet (Wednesday 1 April, 2pm, 4pm & 6pm, £8/£6) and the fun-filled puppet adventure Wolf! (Thursday 9 April, 11.30am & 1.30pm, £8/£6).
