Cullercoats? Colourcoats, more like!
It’s a great name for an artist, is it not: Wishart. But if you have the word “art”, right there in your surname, then you better be able to back it up and, boy, does Joanne Wishart back it up. Her paintings are immediately recognisable through her distinctive use colour – which really pop off the canvas – and many of her works have been inspired by the incredible coastal landscapes that we have in the region. She has been painting professionally for 15 years and has been warmly welcomed into the Cullercoats community. She said: “Cullercoats has a rich heritage as an artist colony, so it’s the perfect location for an artist with so much inspiration on my doorstep.” Inside the gallery – which she runs with her husband – you will find a wide selection of north-east themed original paintings, as well as limited edition prints, greetings cards and plenty of other gift ideas (including some very delectable fine bone china mugs).
