Who’s the Daddy?
Oh, man! Daddy G! Can I get a “Whoop! Whoop!” If you had a pack of cards detailing all the main players in the UK music scene then he would undoubtedly be one of the aces. As a founding member of Massive Attack, he’s a fella that has been pivotal in the development of the “Bristol Sound” – fusing dub, reggae, funk, disco and hip-hop – along with the likes of Tricky and Portishead. He continues to innovate and inspire today and it’s a real feather in the cap of Reggae Got Soul to bring him to Worldies. Joining him will be Count Skylarkin who has been making people move for the past 30 years, from compiling TDK D90s in the early 90s to touring with The Wailers to remixing for Trojan Records and performing in front of thousands at festivals. Specialising in new and vintage reggae, rocksteady, Jamaican ska, hot swing, jump blues and dancehall, he’s sure to be taking the roof off. Two legends on one bill? You got it.
