The north is resplendent with talented printmakers and some of the very best are showing work at a group show, which is currently being held at the Newcastle Arts Centre.

If you suffer from the January blues then take yourself off to this show forthwith as it’s brandishing real joy. Among the artists taking part are Debby Akam (a visual artist based in the Lake District who also works with painting and video); Sandra Haney (a member of England Art Club and Northern Print her printmaking recently featured at a project at Newcastle City Library); Alex McIntosh (who uses layering, fragmentation and abstraction to create dense ambiguous space that entices the viewer); Adele Burdon (who creates monoprints of peaks, waterways and woodlands using a variety of techniques); Jo Westgate (an artist and printmaker based in Northumberland who uses a variety of techniques including drypoint and etching); and Louise Bradley (an Ouseburn based artist who is inspired by the patterns, rhythms, fragility and supremacy of nature).
