centraale19.jpg THAT’s what I call a grotto

If you’re after craft beer and local ale this year – for yourself or for a gift – then Newcastle’s CentrAle is your one-stop shop.

I LOVE CentrAle (yes, that’s a caps-on amount of love). In fact I reckon I’ve been inside their shop more times than I’ve been in my kitchen this year. One of the finest independents in the north-east they specialise in top-quality local product with around 70% of their beers from the north-east, spread across 40 or so micro-breweries. From traditional ales right through to modern craft beers they’ve invariably got it covered. They also have over twenty local gins, as well as four different vodkas and rums from Alnwick and Gateshead. Needless to say, in the run-up to Christmas they have some very delectable gift ideas, which is a real boon, as I always find recipients of booze much happier with their gift than, say, relatives who have socks or dreaded “smellies” foisted on them. And if you need some local snacks and nibbles to go with your drinks, then CentrAle have those too. Sold! Again!
