Our Crack Little Crack

teleg.jpg The Kulaks

I imagine we’re going to see some fairly ridiculous newspaper headlines over the coming days but The Daily Telegraph came out of the traps quicker than most last week with a quote from Boris Johnson, which was splashed right across their front page: “The tragedy of the modern Labour Party under Jeremy Corbyn is that they detest the profit motive so viscerally… they point their fingers at individuals with a relish and a vindictiveness not seen since Stalin persecuted the kulaks.” Oh no, I thought when I read it. Not the kulaks! That’s really going to hit home with Worcester Woman or Tollund Man (or whoever this year’s target demographic is meant to be). In other exciting election news I see that the Lib Dems have launched their Battle Bus. It has a big picture of Jo “fracking” Swinson on the side alongside the words, “Jo Swinson’s Liberal Democrats”, which makes them sound like a pop band from the 1970s, a band with only one original member. I’m thinking Les McKeown’s Bay City Rollers. I wonder if Tim Farron is going to tour with a rival bunch: Tim Farron’s Liberal Democrats? Could be a lot of fun.
