There’s only one Ronnie Spector and she, and The Ronettes, are coming to Sage Gateshead in December to give you a Christmas special with all the trimmings.

Christmas isn’t Christmas for me until I’ve dug out my classic ‘A Christmas Gift For You’ album. Phil Spector’s deck the walls-of-sound compilation album features The Crystals and Darlene Love but it’s The Ronettes who really bring the festive cheer with tracks such as ‘Frosty the Snowman’, ‘Sleigh Ride’ and ‘I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus’. And if they don’t play those classics at this gig then I’ll eat my holly wreath. It’s also nailed on that they will play their other chart-toppers such as ‘Be My Baby’ (contender for the greatest single ever? Yep!), ‘Baby I Love You’, ‘Walking in the Rain’ and ‘Do I Love You’. Ronnie is always good for a juicy anecdote too and no doubt she will be letting rip in her own inimitable style. If you’re looking for some of that elusive Christmas cheer this December then roll up, roll up: the ultimate girl group have plenty to go round.
