feet19.jpg Amazing Feet

Coventry band Feet have just released their fabulously eclectic debut album and they will no doubt be playing plenty of songs from it when they visit Newcastle in November.

Yes, yes, the band have that terrible name, and, yes, yes, their debut album is called ‘What’s Inside Is More Than Just Ham’ (ie it’s a terrible title) but don’t let that surfeit of terribleness put you off because this bunch have really got something. And what that something is, is a collection of songs that manages, somehow, to combine everything from punky-funk to indie-groove to garage-psych in the most pleasing of manners. You might be able to detect little bits of early Super Furry Animals in their stuff, along with Modern Life Is Rubbish-era Blur, which is the kind of intoxicating proposition that really gets me sitting up and smacking my chops. And, yes, yes, they may very occasionally slide into the overly baroque but I’d rather have a band trying to push stuff out there than a 100 other bands all too ready to trade on their indie plodderness. Best Feet forward, I say!
