Call & Response have just started running their weekly Thursday night ‘Salon Des Refuse’ at Colonel Porter’s Emporium in Newcastle, which is kind of good news for everyone.

I don’t quite get the name. The original ‘Salon Des Refusés’ was a 19thcentury exhibition space in France displaying works rejected by the official Paris Salon (ie all the Impressionist stuff). This new ‘Salon Des Refuse’ is a night bringing you only the finest in underground house and techno with all things deep and soulful in between. No matter. It’s all taking place in the salubrious surroundings of Colonel Porter’s on Dean Street in Newcastle and will feature a roster of residents on rotation including Al Bradley (pictured – 3am Recordings/Mujina Code), DEE.P (22 Digit Ltd), Dan Gofton (Call & Response Records), Colin Patterson (Southport Weekender) and Mark Dawson (ARK/Back to Basics). Expect drinks promos galore and – get this! – free entry. Result!

Salon Des Refuse, every Thursday, Colonel Porter’s Emporium, Dean Street, Newcastle, 9.30pm-2.30am, free. https://colonelporters.co.uk
